 WHAT DOES GREEN HORIZONS DO?Green Horizons is a community orientated project providing an invaluable service to the people of the Merthyr Tydfil Borough and surrounding areas.. We as a charity are in our fifth year; we have already helped countless disadvantaged individuals and families in the relief of poverty, in addition we have prevented furniture and white goods from being disposed of in land fill. We receive quality re-useable furniture donations from the good people of the Merthyr borough and display them after cleaning and inspection in our showroom for redistribution at a small cost. Delivery is available in the Merthyr Borough and for a small charge we deliver almost anywhere. By funding and running this project we are preventing this furniture from being taken to land fill sites and being buried, which as we all know is unsustainable and has rapidly become socially unacceptable.  Green Horizons encourages and promotes the donation and free collection of unwanted good quality furniture hence our role in the community is many and varied. Green Horizons also provides employment for local people who are disabled in some way and have found it difficult to obtain or hold down full time employment. Our aim is to give them good quality employment , also help them achieve some sort of qualification or NVQ which is something they never thought they would aspire to. We work with "the Elite" and "MTIB" organisations, together with "VAMT" who are co-ordinating volunteers from the community who are also welcomed and encouraged. We provide volunteer opportunities and support work placements for local schools, collages and training establishments. Community Repaint We at GREEN HORIZONS MERTHYR LTD also belong to the nationwide "Community Repaint" project where companies donate end of line product, wallpaper, paint and other decorating items for us to distribute as we see fit at our showroom in Pentrebach Merthyr Tydfil . Companies such as B&Q , Focus, Farrow and Ball and Homebase are in partnership with us in our efforts to prevent these DIY items going to landfill.
